Overview

Responsibilities

Position Overview:
This is a dual position:  
•    The forklift operator ensures the packaging, handling, and shipment of a quality product that meets or exceeds customer expectations.
•    The Palletizer Operator works independently 

Location:  Olympia, WA

Salary:  $27.4741 average/ per hour – Forklift Driver
              $27.4741 average/ per hour – Palletizer Operator

This is a union position with a pension.

Forklift Operator duties and responsibilities:
Reporting directly to the Plant Shipping Supervisor, the Forklift Driver/Operators responsibilities would include, but not be limited to, the following:  
•    Ensures all equipment, guards, and safety devices are in place at all times, and follows safe work procedures and safety rules
•    Operates sit-down propane forklift to transport inventory and load tractor trailers for shipment.
•    Transports inventory in warehouse to correct locations and stages orders for shipment.
•    Understands daily production schedule and corresponds with management, leads, and coworkers accordingly
•    Performs visual inspection of aluminum cans and packaging quality
•    Monitors schedules, equipment, or processes, and reports problems to Supervisor
•    Follows all SOP’s (standard operating procedures) and communicates with proper personnel as concerns or issues arise
•    Assist Quality Assurance in locating pallets for sampling
•    Performs other related duties as required

Palletizer Operator Duties and Responsibilities:
The Palletizer Operator is an entry-level position will be responsible for operating automatic can palletizing equipment to pattern and/or transfer cans to and from pallets.  


•    Minimum 18 years old
•    High School diploma or G.E.D preferred
•    Equivalent with 3+ years working on a sit-down forklift experience required.
•    Working in a manufacturing setting (high-speed manufacturing is preferred).
•    Must be able to withstand extreme climate changes especially during summer and winter months.  
•    Effective and proven communication skills (both written and verbal) working in a team environment.
•    Proven ability to effectively manage multiple projects/tasks at the same time. 
•    Effective record keeping skills and the ability to focus on details
•    Must be able to stand for prolonged periods as well as work on elevated stationary platforms and withstand extreme climate changes especially during summer months.  
•    Demonstrated strong attention to detail, good record keeping, and precision abilities is highly desirable.  
•    Must be able to work 12-hour shifts, either nights from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m., or days from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m., weekends and overtime as business needs dictate.
•    This position requires union membership after 30 days of hire.

Preferred Requirements
•    OSHA/Forklift Trainer Certified
•    Beverage Packaging industry experience
•    Knowledge of AS400
