Overview

Location:

This is a remote traveling position. Candidate must live near a major airport in the midwest to eastern portion of the United States.

Position Overview:

Crown Food North America is searching for a Manufacturing Engineer to join our team to support operations for the Food Division. This position will work closely with our eight (8) manufacturing facilities.  The position is responsible for designing, implementing, development, and improvement of manufacturing processes by analyzing product and manufacturing methods. In addition, this position requires maintaining quality and safety standards, document control, and supporting the engineering needs of the manufacturing facilities.

Duties And Responsibilities:

Specific responsibilities include the following:

  • Develop manufacturing processes by studying product requirements, researching, designing, modifying, and testing manufacturing methods and equipment.
  • Evaluate manufacturing processes by designing and conducting research, applying knowledge of product design, fabrication, assembly, tooling, and materials.

  • Improve manufacturing efficiency by analyzing processes and manufacturing methods.
  • Assure product and process quality by designing test methods, testing finished product and process capabilities, establishing standards, confirming manufacturing processes.
  • Provide manufacturing decision making information by calculating production, labor, and material costs.
  • Collaborate with outside sources for tooling design, design simulation, and tooling production as needed.
  • Perform other duties as required.

  • Minimum Requirements
    • Bachelor’s degree in engineering
    • Minimum of five (5) years manufacturing experience in positions of increasing responsibility
  • Preferred Qualifications
    • Experience in high-speed metal packaging related to the manufacture or use of Beverage, Food or Aerosol packaging
    • Six Sigma certification in Green Belt or beyond
    • Technical and Functional competencies
    • Highly motivated, driven and results oriented
    • Strong problem solving skills and the ability to effectively solve problems both on an individual and collaborative approach.
    • Working knowledge of principles and applications associated with manufacturing operations including SPC, Six Sigma, 5S, SMED and Lean Manufacturing.
    • Strong project management skills
    • Excellent time management and organizational skills with the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced manufacturing operation.
    • Must believe in the team approach to solving problems and must have proven success in coaching & leading teams to resolve specific problems.
    • Demonstrated employee relations skills and the ability to motivate people
    • Experience developing, building and maintaining strong business partnerships
    • Strong relationship management, interpersonal, listening and communication skills
    • Effective communicator in both written and verbal correspondence as well as an effective presenter.
    • Strong knowledge of PC’s and software programs Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint.
    • Approximately 60 to 80% travel will be required. Role can be based out of any of our U.S. Food Plants.


Physical Requirements

  • While performing the duties of this job, the associate is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, use hands, reach with hands and arms, and may be required to balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl  
  • The associate may lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision and ability to adjust focus

 Working Conditions

  • Will be required to perform job duties outside of the typical office setting in a plant environment as well as in an office.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the associate may be exposed to moving mechanical parts and vehicular traffic. 
  • The associate may be exposed to a wide range of temperatures.
  • The noise level is frequently loud.
