Overview

Responsibilities

This fast-paced manufacturing facility making over 15-18 million cans a month located in Spartanburg, SC.

Duties And Responsibilities:

Responsibilities would include, but not limited to the following:

  • Operate equipment and maintain activities of transporting product throughout the facility with a focus on optimizing Safety, Quality, Productivity and Spoilage.
  • Maintain and service production lines with materials, i.e., plate, ends, pallets, top frames, chipboard, copper wire, etc. as dictated by production schedules.
  • Operate forklifts to transport materials between loading, unloading, processing and storage areas.
  • Organize and secure materials where loads of materials and pallets are stored in the warehouse.
  • Manually load or unload materials onto or off pallets, skids, platforms, or lifting devices.
  • Manually stretch wrap and band product as needed.
  • Perform visual inspection of all pallets/materials, remove, replace and/or repair defective or damaged finished goods and/or materials prior to loading trucks.
  • Communicate all pertinent information regarding material handling, shipping, quality issues and/or any other related information to the next shift forklift driver.
  • Complete and/or administer necessary documentation such as tally sheets, picklist, and warehouse placement forms.
  • Perform routine pre- and post- inspections on forklift equipment to ensure forklift equipment is operating well. Report any repairs needed.
  • Adhere to safe work practices and Crown plant rules and safety requirements, including all housekeeping standards.
  • Assist and train and/or coach all new operators as needed or required.
  • Complete forklift operator training annually, provided by company.
  • Perform other duties as requested by supervisor.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Forklift-certified and have at least 2 years of proven forklift driver experience in a warehousing and manufacturing environment.
  • Safe and excellent driving skills.
  • Ability to get on and off forklift multiple times during shift.
  • Ability to read, comprehend and legibly complete associated paperwork and documentation.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills and ability to give and receive instructions.
  • Safety & Quality minded with a willingness for excellence required in all aspects of the job.
  • Must be able to work any shift, evenings, weekends, and overtime as business needs dictate.

Preferred Requirements:

  • A high school diploma/GED or equivalent preferred.
  • Experience moving and stacking pallets of products in warehouse or manufacturing environment.
  • Knowledge of AS400.
  • Proven ability to effectively manage multiple projects/tasks at the same time.
  • Knowledge and work history of focusing on safety and quality in every aspect of the job.

Competencies:

  • Ability to move controls, levers, and devices to drive industrial forklifts to transport materials between loading, unloading, processing and storage areas.
  • Ability to work independently or as a team.
  • Basic mathematical skills.
  • Basic computer and data entry skills.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
