Overview

You may develop, fix or fabricate solutions and work within the shop and production departments. Location Overview
Crown has built a brand new manufacturing plant in Effingham, South Carolina. This state of the art facility produces various size food cans for one of South Carolina's leading Food producers. This is your opportunity to join Crown's global organization and we are looking for an Electronics Technician
Position Overview
The Electronics Technician will provide support to plant operations through troubleshooting, performing maintenance, repairing and installing of equipment, electrical systems and components. Reports directly to the PM&R Supervisor
Duties and Responsibilities-Essential Functions
- Maintain and troubleshoot all electrical systems and devices within the plant
- Knowledge and solid understanding of Programmable Logic Controls (PLCs)
- Assist in new installations and upgrades of plant equipment
- Conduct process checks as required
- Work with and lead outside contractors as needed to complete projects or various plant maintenance functions
- Keep work area safe, clean and organized
- Assist and support other production floor operations as required
- Keep Production Supervisor and Department Manager informed of operational status of equipment
- Complete all administrative tasks, including log books, data entry and record keeping in proper order
- Adhere to all food safety procedures and measures
- Any additional job-related duties
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements
- Associate’s Degree in Electrical Technology OR Journeyman’s card
- Ability to work 1st or 2nd shift
- Experience with high pressure hydraulics and pneumatics
Preferred requirements
- 6 to 10 years manufacturing experience
- Experience with automated material handling systems
- Previous experience with PLC programming
Required Knowledge
- Safety: General knowledge of operating safely on applicable machinery to include lockout-tagout, NFPA 70 Electrical Code, and NFPA 79 Machinery Standards
- Transformers: Knowledge and experience terminating transformers and electric motors
- Variable speed drives: Knowledge of programming and setting up
Required Skills
- Computer use: Use of computer software to include scanning materials onto outgoing trucks and printing appropriate pallet tags
- Customer Service: Display customer need assessment and meet quality standards for service
- Time Management: Prioritize duties to most efficiently accomplish tasks and maintain productivity
Required Abilities
- Blueprint interpretation: Ability to read and interpret blue prints, schematics, and manuals
- Communication: Ability to read and write English and interpret spoken direction
- Organization: Ability to maintain an organized work area
- Tools: Ability to use DVM, analog type multi-meter, megohmeter, oscilloscope, and smoldering station #FB
- Troubleshooting: Ability to troubleshoot magnetic controls such as switches, relays, and solenoids
Physical Requirements
- Regular standing, stooping, reaching, kneeling, crouching, crawling, climbing, and balancing
- Ability to lift 50 pounds
Environmental Exposures
- Operating machinery produce at least 85 decibels (dB) of noise.
- The industrial duties of this position may expose the employee to odors, wetness, dirt, and dust.
- The majority of this position’s duties are exposed to areas which are not climate controlled
