Overview

DIVISION OVERVVIEW

Crown’s Beverage Division manufactures a variety of packaging solutions for soft drinks, craft beers, coffees and teas as well as new energy drinks. Crown Beverage leads the packaging industry with innovative technologies that redefine how the world looks at beverage cans. With a large printable surface area and a wide range of sizes, shapes and decorating options, our aluminum cans are the perfect packaging format to create compelling brand presence where it counts. POSITION OVERVIEW:

Responsible for the tending of one or more automated or manual testing/production machines or equipment that perform one or more functions in the making of beverage can lids.  Maintains and observes operation of machines, gauges and equipment to insure the production of high-quality ends. Inspects ends according to customer specifications.  Interprets quality test results and If specifications are not met, informs Team Leader or Team Coordinator.  If the machine jams, stops machine and clears away damaged or jammed lids, etc. Other duties as assigned by the team or management.

Responsible for the housekeeping and cleaning in the area of responsibility such as wiping clean machines, picking up ends, emptying spoilage container, mopping, emptying trash cans, etc.   Responsible for the required paperwork of assigned area or machine(s), examples: logbook entries, or bills of lading, inventory sheets, warehouse tags, etc.

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:  High School or equivalent preferred but not required with the following language skills, mathematical skills, and reasoning ability.

LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.  Ability to write simple correspondence.  Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to other Team Members or customers.

REASONING ABILITY: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.  Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.


WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

Six months or more of related work experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience 

JOB ENVIRONMENT:

Working with high speed automated machines and equipment in a manufacturing plant producing beverage can lids for the beverage industry.  The plant operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 52 weeks a year.  The hourly rate for this position is $24.20. Quality Inspector/Production Operators (QI/PO) have constant pressure to produce high quality ends and to keep the production line operating.  The shifts are rotating with four (4) days on and four (4) off with the shift starting at 7:00 and ending at 7:00 (12 hours).  Rotates from days to nights every thirteen weeks and vise versa.  PO/QI will be assigned to different areas of the plant through out a team member's work career.  The production area of the plant is not climate controlled in the summer months. Must be willing to work in all areas of production and on any shift. The noise level in the work environment is loud and requires hearing protection in designated areas. 

Must have an excellent safety record and experience in a manufacturing environment.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • While performing the duties of this job, the team member is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands and fingers to handle, or feel objects, tools or controls, and reach with hands and arms.
  • Team member frequently is required to climb or balance and talk and hear.
  • The team member is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • the team member must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

Must pass physical, drug screen and background check.
