Overview

Division Overview:

Crown’s Food Division is the number one manufacturer of food cans in the world. Our complete array of food packaging serves a variety of markets, including fruit, vegetables, dairy, fish, meat, ready meals, pet food, infant milk powder and other dry food products. We offer a wide selection of food cans from round to bowl as well as shaped cans. We truly focus on excellence.  Here is your chance to join the Crown Food Team.

Location:

Plant 37 is located in Hanover, PA. The Plant manufactures 2-piece and 3-piece steel cans for the food industry. There are approximately 95 employees at the Hanover location. The Hanover Plant is located on Route 194 in York County and is in close proximity to York, PA, Gettysburg, PA and the Maryland border.

Position Overview:

The PM&R, reporting directly to the Manufacturing Supervisor, will be responsible for maintaining the production line, assisting in set-up, adjustment, or repair to the line. This employee will rebuild parts and equipment as necessary, or other assigned tasks to help ensure the team can maintain a smooth flow of cans thorough the production line. This position is scheduled 5:00pm-5:00am on a yearly rotational schedule. 

Duties And Responsibilities:

Reporting directly to the Manufacturing Supervisor, the PM&R’s responsibilities would include, but not be limited to, the following:

  • Demonstrate a safety-first attitude to work effectively in a team environment
  • Responsible for the mechanical performance of automated production machines and equipment that performs one or more functions in the making of high-quality steel cans
  • Make necessary adjustments, repair, and or changes to equipment and machines
  • Direct and assist in the setup of machines and equipment
  • Assist other areas as needed such as new equipment, installations, overhauls, etc.
  • Complete required paperwork and documentation; provide communication to engage appropriate resources as needed
  • Maintain proper housekeeping in all areas of work
  • Train team members as needed
  • Fill in for Manufacturing Supervisor as assigned; lead shift kick off meetings, be a resource to shift members, communicate daily production reports, etc.
  • Fill in for team members in their absence or for coverage purposes
  • Performs other job-related duties as required or assigned

Qualifications:

In addition to the specific responsibilities listed above, the ideal candidate will possess the following:

Minimum Requirements

  • Basic computer skills to use applicable systems and email
  • Demonstrated troubleshooting abilities
  • Understand the function and operation of all plant can-making equipment, knowledge of OSHA requirements and safe work practices.
  • Ability to use precision measuring devices (i.e. calipers, micrometers and dial indicators)
  • Able to work alternate work schedules including overtime, voluntary and mandatory, based on business needs

Preferred Requirements

  • High School Education/GED
  • 2+ years previous demonstrated industrial maintenance experience
  • Able to operate fork truck and lift equipment
  • Previous leadership experience
  • Understand gearboxes, chains and sprockets, rations, and speeds of various power transmission equipment.
  • Understand pump operations, CFM’s, pressures, and be able to make repairs, rebuild, and overhaul pumps as needed.
  • Able to perform complete overhauls of all required equipment and machinery.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and determine the cause of faults, breakdowns, and failures.
  • Working knowledge of hydraulics and pneumatic systems, chemical properties and proper handling requirements, plumbing, electrical, various power transmission equipment, and HVAC systems.
  • Able to read blueprints, or equipment drawings.

Physical Requirements:

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, use hands, reach with hands and arms, and may be required to balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.  
  • The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision and ability to adjust focus.

Working Conditions:

  • Generally works in a plant environment but may be required to perform some job duties inside a typical office setting.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be exposed to moving mechanical parts and vehicular traffic.  
  • The employee may be exposed to a wide range of temperatures.
  • The noise level is frequently loud.
