Overview

Responsibilities

Crown Cork & Seal USA, a global metal packaging company is looking for a 2nd Shift Mechanic ($29.51 - $33.05 an hour) at our plant in Oshkosh, Wisconsin.  We offer fully funded employer benefits which means free medical, dental, vision and prescription coverage to the employee.

Position Summary:

Production Mechanics perform machine set-up and maintenance to ensure efficient operation of a variety of manufacturing equipment and conveying, perform scheduled and unscheduled maintenance, perform physical and visual measurement checks to ensure process is in compliance and take appropriate measures to correct the process when deficiencies are found.

Essential Functions:

  • Experience in machine set-up, operation, preventive maintenance and repair on a wide variety of equipment including conveying. 
  • Maintain all production line machinery and equipment.
  • Make equipment adjustments as needed.
  • Perform equipment inspections.
  • Communicate regularly with QA, supervisors and machine operators.
  • Follow all required environmental, health and safety procedures.
  • This position will also develop standard operating procedures; provide training for equipment operation and reinforce all safety procedures.


Skills and Qualifications:

  • Three years of experience in a manufacturing setting (high-speed manufacturing is preferred).
  • Must be mechanically inclined.
  • Working knowledge with precision measurement devices (i.e. calipers, micrometers and dial indicators).
  • Exhibit safety and quality as their top priorities.
  • Proven ability to effectively manage multiple projects/tasks at the same time.
  • Effective and proven communication skills (both written and verbal) working in a team environment.
  • Good analytical and problem solving skills.
  •  Experience with metal coatings is a plus.

Education:

  • High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) preferred.
  • Associate, Diploma or certificate from technical school preferred.

Physical Demands:

  • Must be able to stand continuously for more than 8+ hours per shift.
  • Must be able to walk, lift/carry up to 50 lbs on occasion.
  • Must be about to stand, reach, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.
  • Must be able to twist at the waist and bend repetitively.
  • This position may also require climbing or balancing.
  • Must be able to work up to twelve (12) hour shifts, both day and evening.
