Responsibilities

Crown Beverage North America is searching for an Electrical Engineer to support the sixteen (16) North American manufacturing operations for the Beverage Division. This position will work closely with the manufacturing facilities to implement electrical projects, troubleshooting electrical issues, designing upgrades, and line control improvements for 2-Piece aluminum beer and beverage can and end processes. Specific responsibilities include the following:

Specific responsibilities include the following:

  • Ensuring safety is a first priority

  • Subject Matter Expert – All things Electrical.

  • Budget development – Design / build / commission new projects, Plant projects, electrical infrastructure upgrade projects, software requirements, training needs.

  • Vendor Specifications – EVL (Electrical Vendor Listing).

  • Electrical Infrastructure improvement project development and priority ranking.

  • Arc Flash Analysis compliance – Divisional.

  • Monthly reporting of Electrical Team Activities.

  • Develop & submit Project Appropriation Requests (PAR)

  • Travel requests and Expense report review and approval.

  • Support Plants and personnel as required and directed to identify production problems or issues, identify viable solutions, develop timelines and budgets to implement and once approved manage the implementation.

  • Monitor & manage all aspects of time and project costs to ensure timely completion within budget of projects within the PED group.

  • The ability to manage projects on different processes required in our business (lubricant systems, can washing, coatings application, wastewater treatment processes, etc.).

  • Develop, procure or provide and coordinate appropriate training for Engineering Team of new technologies and equipment.

  • Mentor and coach technical staff and engineers.

  • This position requires the ability to manage a project as well as the ability to become involved in a “hands-on” capacity.  Must be able to work both independently and as part of a team.


Qualifications for success in this role include the following:  

Education, Knowledge & Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related technical discipline.
  • 5+ years’ experience minimum of progressive responsibility for Plant Electrical Maintenance, Project Design and Execution, Electrical Department work and / or Engineering lead on field for projects.
  • AutoCAD – Intermediate or advanced level.
  • Power distribution system design and specification.
  • Instrumentation and controls system design and specification.
  • Ethernet IP Network systems design and specification.
  • PLC system design, programming, installation, and commissioning - Allen Bradley systems are preferred.
  • HMI design and integration with new and existing installations – Allen Bradley systems are preferred.
  • Ethernet VFD control design and implementation.
  • Gas Fired Burner controls and temperature control systems experience.
  • Project Development and Management Skills
  • Administrative - Develop contractor scope of work requirements, material specification and take offs for bid development.
  • On Site Contractor management and coordination.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively manage multiple projects.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills and the ability to interact with individuals at all levels within the organization.
  • Mentor and coach technical staff and engineers.
  • Understanding and compliance with National Electrical Code rules and requirements.
