Overview
Joining Crown means joining a global leader in the design and production of packaging. In this role, it’ll be up to you to measure, report, maintain and improve on how things are done. This is a remote traveling position however candidate will work primarily in our Owatonna, MN facility.
Position Overview:
Crown Food North America is searching for a Manufacturing Engineer (Front End) to join our team to support operations for the Food Division. This Manufacturing Engineer role would provide guidance as a Front End subject matter expert to our Food 2 piece Manufacturing facilities. The equipment would include cuppers, body makers, and trimmers as well as other production machinery. In addition, this position is responsible for designing, implementing, development, and improvement of manufacturing processes by analyzing product and manufacturing methods. In addition, this position requires maintaining quality and safety standards, document control, and supporting the engineering needs of the manufacturing facilities.
Duties And Responsibilities:
Specific responsibilities include the following:
- Develop manufacturing processes by studying product requirements, researching, designing, modifying, and testing manufacturing methods and equipment.
Evaluate manufacturing processes by designing and conducting research, applying knowledge of product design, fabrication, assembly, tooling, and materials. - Identifying areas of spoilage and make suggestions for corrective action to resolve the issues
- Provide training and guidance to employees on equipment operation and troubleshooting
- Reinforce all safety procedures
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
Requirements for these positions include but are not limited to the following:
Minimum Requirements
- Seven (7) + years’ experience in the Front End of a high-speed Beverage or Food metal packaging facility
- Must believe in the team approach to solving problems and must have proven success in coaching & leading teams to resolve specific problems.
- Demonstrated employee relations skills and the ability to motivate people
- Experience developing, building and maintaining strong business partnerships
- Strong relationship management, interpersonal, listening and communication skills
- Excellent time management and organizational skills with the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced manufacturing operation.
- Effective communicator in both written and verbal correspondence as well as an effective presenter.
- Role will be based primarily in our Owatonna, MN Food Plant however travel up to 60% may be required
Preferred Requirements
- Working knowledge of principles and applications associated with manufacturing operations including SPC, Six Sigma, 5S, SMED and Lean Manufacturing.
- Six Sigma certification in Green Belt or beyond
Physical Requirements
- While performing the duties of this job, the associate is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, use hands, reach with hands and arms, and may be required to balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl
- The associate may lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision and ability to adjust focus
Working Conditions
- Will be required to perform job duties outside of the typical office setting in a plant environment as well as in an office.
- While performing the duties of this job, the associate may be exposed to moving mechanical parts and vehicular traffic.
- The associate may be exposed to a wide range of temperatures.
- The noise level is frequently loud.
