POSITION OVERVIEW:
This position has the responsibility to purchase metal and plan and adjust production planning in support of a 40+ line, high velocity/high volume steel and aluminum can and end making facility.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Value stream management; ordering, receiving, planning and delivery
- Track, evaluate, and maintain inventory levels and raw materials
- Obtains receipts for incoming shipments, checks against packing slips, and logs materials from various suppliers into inventory
- Cycle count inventory items and analyze to provide corrective action to inaccurate records
- Monitor production, shipments, and new sales releases, revising schedules to adjust to any potential material or production issues
- Forecast and expedite raw materials as needed
- Coordinate orders
- Work with plant and corporate resources to adjust priorities quickly and accurately in response to customer needs and business conditions
- Interact with co-workers on the shop floor; develop positive relationships
- Interface successfully with Manufacturing; understand their processes, limitations, timelines, capabilities, and restrictions
- Interact professionally with colleagues throughout CROWN and with external Customers and Suppliers
- Enters data into various computer systems
- Works with Accounting on billing discrepancies and claims to supplier
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- An Associate Degree in business or a related field preferred
- 3-5 years of experience in a customer service or production planning role
- Comfortable being on the shop floor 50 percent or more of the time
- Capable communicator; sharing information verbally and in writing in a timely and accurate fashion
- A strong commitment to on-going personal development through education, work experiences or training
- In-depth working knowledge of Microsoft Office including Excel, Word, Access, Teams, etc.
- An affinity for data handling
- Professional interactions at all levels
- Working experience using an AS400 system is a plus
- Prior manufacturing experience is a plus
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- While performing the duties of this job, the team member is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, use hands, reach with hands and arms, and may be required to balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
- The team member may lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision and ability to adjust focus.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Generally, works in a typical office setting but will be required to perform some job duties in a plant environment
- While performing the duties of this job in the plant, the team member may be exposed to moving mechanical parts and vehicular traffic
- The team member may be exposed to a wide range of temperatures in the plant
- The noise level in the plant is frequently loud
- The Massillon plant and grounds are tobacco-free. This means that the use of tobacco of any kind will not be permitted anywhere in the building or on Crown property. This also includes prohibiting the use of any electronic cigarette devices.
