Overview

JOB TITLE:

UTILITY

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Break-out incoming coils.
  • Unload coil trucks from shipping dock.
  • Operate fork truck.  3,000# and 30,000#
  • Load coils onto the coil car unit.
  • Supply packaging materials to the line (cartons, pallets, tape, etc.).
  • Change and dump scrap hoppers.
  • Load and unload pallets from lift table.
  • Keep compound system supplied with drums.  (Remove and dispose of used drums.)
  • Assist set-up personnel with QA enamel rater checks.
  • Web wrap pallets of ends to be shipped.
  • Keep records (coil tickets, pallets, etc.).
  • Write and implement HFI’s.
  • Sort and rework HFI’s.
  • Inventory packaging materials and notify shipping for restocking.
  • Keep area clean and orderly.
  • Provide breaks for other utility operator (set-up will assist when available).
  • Stage product for shipment maintaining FIFO procedures.
  • Assist in requisition, restocking and inventory of satellite storage area.
  • Pack lids in cartons.
  • Take boxes off packing station.
  • Other duties as assigned by management.

  • At least 3 years of related work experience and/or training.
  • Prior working experience operating a forklift is required.
  • Prior working experience in a manufacturing setting is preferred.
  • Must be able to work under pressure and adjust to sudden changes with work patterns or schedules.
  • Ability to work independently and with teams and possess good interpersonal skills.
  • Must be able to work 8 or 12-hour shifts, days, evenings, midnights, weekends, and overtime as business needs dictate.
  • Must comply all OSHA safety rules and regulations.
  • Must comply with Crown’s Quality and Food Safety Management Programs.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • While performing the duties of this job, the team member is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls, and reach with hands and arms.
  • The team member is frequently required to climb or balance and talk or hear.
  • The team member is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • The team member must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and /or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Generally, works in a plant environment but will be required to perform some job duties inside a typical office setting.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the team member may be exposed to moving mechanical parts and vehicular traffic.
  • The team member may be exposed to a wide range of temperatures.
  • The noise level is frequently loud.
  • The Massillon plant and grounds are tobacco-free.  This means that the use of tobacco of any kind will not be permitted anywhere in the building or on Crown property.  This also includes prohibiting the use of any electronic cigarette devices.
