Division Overview:

Crown’s Beverage Division manufactures a variety of packaging solutions for soft drinks, craft beers, coffees and teas as well as new energy drinks. Crown Beverage leads the packaging industry with innovative technologies that redefine how the world looks at beverage cans. With a large printable surface area and a wide range of sizes, shapes and decorating options, our aluminum cans are the perfect packaging format to create compelling brand presence where it counts. Location:

Crown is building a brand new manufacturing facility in Martinsville, Virginia. This state-of-the-art facility will manufacture specialty beverage cans for some of the top consumer product companies.  We are in the process of assembling a world class team of individuals to operate this facility and are looking for a Shipping Supervisor.

POSITION OVERVIEW:

The Shipping Supervisor is responsible for overseeing and managing all related shipping and warehousing activities including supervising use of equipment, truck drivers, and personnel throughout the warehouse

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Those areas of responsibility will include but not be limited to the following areas:

  • Maintains receiving, warehouse, and distribution operations by initiating, coordinating, and enforcing program, operational and personnel policies and procedures
  • Complies with federal, state and local warehousing, material handling and shipping requirements Enforces adherence to requirements, advising management on needed items.
  • Safeguards warehouse operations and contents by establishing and monitoring security procedures and protocols.
  • Controls inventory levels by conducting physical counts, reconciling with data storage system.
  • Maintains physical condition of warehouse by planning and implementing new design layouts; inspecting equipment, issuing work orders for repair and requisitions for replacements.
  • Completes warehouse operational requirements by scheduling and assigning employees, following up on work results.
  • Maintains warehouse staff by recruiting, selecting, orienting and training employees.
  • Maintains warehouse staff job results by coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees; planning, monitoring, and appraising job results.
  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, etc.
  • Keeps area safe, clean and organized
  • Performs other related duties as required

Job Requirements

Qualifications:

Requirements for this position will include but not be limited to the following skills, competencies and experience:

 Minimum Requirements

  • 5+ years of supervisory experience specifically in the areas of warehouse, inventory and shipping
  • High school degree/GED
  • Thorough knowledge of the MS Office software
  • Highly effective oral and written communication skills
  • Proven record of effectively managing multiple projects at one time
  • Ability to travel on occasion for training or to support other manufacturing locations

Preferred Requirements

  • Experience in a high speed manufacturing environment
  • Associates or Bachelors degree in Logistics, Business or a related area is preferred
  • Logistics certification

•           Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint and Outlook required.

  • Ability to change shifts and plant departments to cover absences or provide additional support
  • Strong commitment to quality and safety

Physical Requirements

  • While performing the duties of this job, the associate is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, use hands, reach with hands and arms, and may be required to balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl 
  • The associate may lift and/or move up to 10 pounds
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision and ability to adjust focus

Working Conditions

  • Will be required to perform job duties outside of the typical office setting in a plant/warehouse environment as well as in an office
  • While performing the duties of this job, the associate may be exposed to moving mechanical parts and vehicular traffic  
  • The associate may be exposed to a wide range of temperatures
  • The noise level is frequently loud
