Location: Mankato, MN

Position Overview:

The Shipping Clerk works closely with all aspects of the manufacturing process from the raw material to the finished product and support daily productions activities.  As a shipping clerk, you are on the front line, making sure that our company receive deliveries in a timely manner. You also make sure that customers receive the items they ordered in a timely manner, without any mistakes in the delivery. Starting pay is $24.8885 per hour and works a conventional Monday - Friday schedule. Other benefits include:

Duties And Responsibilities:

Reporting directly to the Production Planning Manager, responsibilities would include, but not be limited to, the following:   

  • Receive and process orders on a daily basis. Check descriptions, quantity, type of package, etc. on all outbound and inbound materials against the shipping order or packing list.
  • Coordinate deliveries to customers and clients on a daily basis and staying in contact with shipping companies. Including, completing arrangements for less than a truckload, express, and parcel post shipments as required.
  • Train and instruct dock loaders on correct and safe loading procedures.
  • Maintain the company warehouse by cleaning, organizing, and labeling items in storage on a regular basis.
  • Keep records of goods that have been shipped and received, preparing regular shipping and receiving reports for supervisors.
  • Gathers necessary loss and damage information necessary to complete claim form.  Contacts carries to obtain permission to process the damaged load.
  • Place and/or move pallets in a warehouse by operating forklifts.
  • Schedule shipments and coordinate logistics to ensure that there is enough storage space for incoming items and personnel to manage incoming shipments.
  • Perform customer service duties as necessary, maintaining good relationships with shipping companies and clients who are receiving goods.
  • Performs other job-related duties as required or assigned

Qualifications:

In addition to the specific responsibilities listed above, the ideal candidate will possess the following:

Minimum Requirements

  • Experience with spreadsheet or database software
  • One to two years’ experience working in a warehouse setting
  • Must be available to work various shifts if needed and be able to work nights, weekends, and overtime to cover absences or provide additional support. 

Preferred Requirements

  • Packaging industry experience
  • Electrical Journeyman’s certification
  • Green or black belt certification in Six Sigma

  • Must be able to look at new solutions and “think outside the box”
  • Effective leadership skills such as conflict resolution, communication, decision making, etc.

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Strong computer skills and working knowledge of various Microsoft programs (Excel, Word, Access, etc.)

Physical Requirements

  • While performing the duties of this job, the associate is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, use hands, reach with hands and arms, and may be required to balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl 
  • The associate may lift and/or move up to 10 pounds
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision and ability to adjust focus

Working Conditions

  • Generally works in a plant environment but will be required to perform some job duties inside a typical office setting
  • While performing the duties of this job, associate will be exposed to power sources
  • While performing the duties of this job, the associate may be exposed to moving mechanical parts and vehicular traffic  
  • The associate may be exposed to a wide range of temperatures
  • The noise level is frequently loud
