Overview

Division Overview:

Crown’s Beverage Division manufactures a variety of packaging solutions for soft drinks, craft beers, coffees and teas as well as new energy drinks. Crown Beverage leads the packaging industry with innovative technologies that redefine how the world looks at beverage cans. With a large printable surface area and a wide range of sizes, shapes and decorating options, our aluminum cans are the perfect packaging format to create compelling brand presence where it counts. Here is your chance to join the Crown Beverage Division.

The Process Engineer will be responsible for development of process indicators (KPIs) and Process Monitoring for Beverage Manufacturing Facilities. Development of new technologies for can manufacturing facilities meeting Crown specifications in order to guarantee the final quality of the beverage can. Search constantly the process continuous improvement through cost reduction and eliminating tasks that no add value to the business.  

Specifics of this key role include:

Process Monitoring: Development and implementation of Standard Operational Procedures (SOP) to control and measure the efficiency of beverage can and end making process, evaluating the equipment, methods of measurements, consumables and spoilage;

Process Data: Collect data and analyze process levels of efficiency, performing a benchmarking research in Crown plants, identifying the bests alternatives in order to maximize efficiency, quality and reduce costs;

Consumables: Development and implementation of Consumables Report and Coordinate actions to reduce consumption with the plants.

Statistical Process Data and Parameters: Collect statistical process data and parameters for can making process, monitoring can weight, metal yield, consumables, spoilage and costs, in order to guarantee the better efficiency and cost of industrial process.

Trials and Innovations: Support the Beverage Cans and Ends facilitiesfor qualification of New materials – metal, coatings, varnishes, compounds, drum supplies, etc. Analysis of data, evaluation of results and creation of technical qualification and statistical reports.

Training: Provide training to plant personnel in existing process and also new materials and technologies developed;

Continuous Improvement: Develop and support projects using Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma tools in order to improve plants 6S Project, reduce costs and waste, improve quality – built of a self-sustaining system.

Materials Suppliers: Develop and implement technical reviews with Metal, Coatings and Chemical Suppliers in order to review audits, process data and maximize performance of materials, reducing costs and improving efficiency.

Documentation: Develop and implement system to archive all technical material of Process Area, establishing the organization and classification of all material, in order to keep the equipment and technical documentation available and updated for use.


In addition to the qualifications and experience listed above, the ideal candidate will possess the following:

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering
  • Minimum of five (5) years manufacturing experience in positions of increasing responsibility
  • Six Sigma certification in Green Belt or beyond

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in high-speed packaging related to the manufacture or use of Beverage, Food or Aerosol packaging

Technical and Functional competencies

  • Highly motivated, driven and results oriented
  • Strong problem solving skills and the ability to effectively solve problems both on an individual and collaborative approach.
  • Working knowledge of principles and applications associated with manufacturing operations including SPC, Six Sigma, 5S, SMED and Lean Manufacturing.
  • Strong project management skills
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills with the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced manufacturing operation.
  • Must believe in the team approach to solving problems and must have proven success in coaching & leading teams to resolve specific problems.
  • Demonstrated employee relations skills and the ability to motivate people
  • Experience developing, building and maintaining strong business partnerships
  • Strong relationship management, interpersonal, listening and communication skills
  • Effective communicator in both written and verbal correspondence as well as an effective presenter.
  • Advanced knowledge of PC’s and software programs Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint.

Given that this position supports our plants across North America, approximately 60-70% travel will be required for success in this role.
