Primary Function:

Provide technical support and training to plant management and manufacturing personnel in the application of statistical tools and problem solving techniques. Evaluate and improve manufacturing quality, performance and capability. Maintenance, repair and housekeeping of quality gauging equipment and supporting auditing functions.

Specific Responsibilities:

  1. Technical Support to Management Team
  • Provide statistical analysis of plant manufacturing performance.
  • Conduct statistical evaluations of new and existing equipment to determine process / equipment capability.
  • Provide data analysis to facilitate the allocation of resources in the scheduling of plant equipment maintenance and repair.
  • Participate in customer/supplier audits and provide supporting process performance analysis.
  • Manage plant SPC training program for salary and hourly personnel.

Technical Support to Plant Personnel

  • Conduct training in basic SPC principles and applications
  • Conduct training in the application of statistical problem solving techniques
  • Coach hourly personnel in the use of SPC on the plant floor
  • Provide process analysis to QA manager and quality team on plant performance, including monthly PPR requirements
  • Conduct gauge R&R, stability, and accuracy studies
  • Conduct training on how to use the gauges
  • Support establishment and monitoring of gauge maintenance and housekeeping programs
  • Provide training in the use of statistical software packages
  • Assist with plant SOP training and development
  • Support corporate quality with the maintenance of quality network systems.
  • Facilitate team meetings and support development of team dynamics
  • Assist with process certification efforts within the plant, which may include SQF and other audits

Educational Requirements:

Entry Level

  • High School level math and science
  • Microsoft Word, Excel, Powerpoint
  • Knowledge of WCP/Lean/Six Sigma philosophy
  • Basic 10 Hour SPC Courses
  • Statistical Software (JMP, NWA Software Suite)
  • Gauge Capability Software (JMP)

Advanced Level

  • Bachelor Degree (Bsc.)
  • Advanced Statistical Process Control and Capability (Six Sigma)
  • Gauge Capability Analysis
  • Six-Sigma Green-Belt Certification
  • SQL Network Systems Administrator
  • Project Process Improvement Management
  • Six Sigma and Lean Black Belt
  • Lead Six Sigma and Lean Team Activities in the plant

Personal Skills:

This is a highly interactive position. Candidate must be able to effectively advise management of process performance issues in the plant. Good personal interactive skills are essential for the training and coaching of plant hourly and management teams. Analytical skills must be highly developed with an ability to objectively evaluate data and perform statistical analysis. Ability to interface with corporate engineering and customers, concerning quality and process capability. Technical writing skills provide an advantage in report development and team progress documentation.

Supervision Received:

Primarily Plant Manager, QA Manager, and management teams.

Supervision Exercised:

Minimal:  Indirect supervision of plant supervision and hourly personnel as related to quality issues, manufacturing procedures and policy.

Confidential Data:

            Access to all technical data/specifications used in manufacturing. Machine engineering designs,

            tooling specifications, capacity information and manufacturing process capability.

Impact of Errors:

Major:  Errors in analysis could directly affect process performance and capability, conformance to specification, and customer satisfaction. Deployment of plant resources could be misdirected. Process control severely compromised with achievement of process certification unattainable. Gross negligence causing decreased productivity, decreased quality, increased spoilage, and possible loss of business.
