Accounting Clerk

The Accounting Clerk’s role will be to support all operation and administrative functions related to the daily operation of the plant.
Duties And Responsibilities:
Reporting directly to the Plant Manager, the Accounting Clerk responsibilities would include, but not be limited to, the following:
- Purchasing – receives requisitions, get quotes from vendors, enters and tracks PO requests for approval by Corporate Sourcing, releases approved PO’s to vendors, enters purchase receipts into the system
- Office Supplies – keeps inventory of all supplies
- Journal Entries – payroll accrual, cash in bank reconciliation, repair labor distribution worksheet, national account payment reclass
- Accounts Payable – email packaging slips and invoices to Corporate Accounting
- Mail – receive and distribute mail, and prepare outgoing mail
- Physical Inventory – counting and/or recording as necessary
- Journal Entries – scraps shipments shipped not billed, reconciles coils received each to coils transferred to General Ledger ,prepares coils received not paid journal entry and freight accrual
- Sales
- Payroll – backup for payroll functions payroll, including keeping overtime records, entering payroll, verifying accuracy and submitting to Corporate Payroll for processing
- Performs other job-related duties as required or assigned
In addition to the specific responsibilities listed above, the ideal candidate will possess the following:
Minimum Requirements:
- High school diploma or GED
- 3+ years of experience in an office setting (preferably in a manufacturing environment)
- Purchasing and Payroll experience is a plus
- Attention to detail, organizational skills and ability to manage deadlines
- Thorough understanding of federal, state and local employment laws
- Strong analytical, communication and interpersonal skills
- Continuous focus on improving customer service
Preferred Requirements:
- Associates Degree or professional certification
- AS400 experience
Competencies:
- Strong analytical, communication and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated ability to multi-task and adapt as business needs dictate.
- Experience developing and facilitating training.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team environment as well as working independently and self-directed.
- Process oriented with a continuous improvement mindset
- Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint and Outlook required.
Physical Requirements:
- While performing the duties of this job, the associate is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, use hands, reach with hands and arms, and may be required to balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
- The associate may lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision and ability to adjust focus.
Working Conditions:
- Generally works in an office setting but will be required to perform some job duties inside a plant environment.
- While performing the duties of this job, the associate may be exposed to moving mechanical parts and vehicular traffic.
- The associate may be exposed to a wide range of temperatures.
- The noise level is frequently loud.
