Overview
Joining Crown means joining a global leader in the design and manufacture of packaging products. In one of our manufacturing divisions, you’ll be key in packaging household products we use every day. You may develop, fix or fabricate solutions and work within the shop and production departments. Division Overview:
Crown’s Beverage Division manufactures a variety of packaging solutions for soft drinks, craft beers, coffees, and teas as well as new energy drinks. Crown beverage leads the packaging industry with innovative technologies that redefine how the world looks at beverage cans. With a large printable surface area and a wide range of sizes, shapes and decorating options, our aluminum cans are the perfect packaging format to create a compelling brand presence where it counts. Location:
Cheraw, South Carolina
Position Overview:
Operate manual palletizer, depalletizer, bander and drive a forklift. Inspect and discard defective cans while ensuring the package meets acceptable quality standards. Ensure accurate and proper pallet tag placement for each package post inspection. Keep a meticulous record of pallets sorted and final shift count.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Safety and Quality minded with willingness for excellence required.
- Ensures all safety equipment, guards, and devices are always in place, and follows safe work procedures and safety rules.
- Follows all SOP Operating Procedures.
- Work with QA Supervisor to determine HFI pallets to be sorted each shift.
- Safely transfer pallets from HFI Area to Sorter depalletizer.
- Record HFI information from each pallet tag.
- As the pallet is depalletized monitor cans on cable way conveyor for said defects. Discard defects.
- Palletize remaining ‘quality’ cans at 21-layers high.
- Place pallet on Bander; band pallet with 3-straps on long side and two straps on short side.
- Contact QA Lab for final pallet inspection.
- Post QA Inspection, pull HFI ticket and place original production tickets on pallet. If pallet is less than 21-layers (8169) request a new production ticket from the Bander Operator with correct pallet amount.
- Stage finished pallets at production Bander area for warehouse driver to collect and place in ‘good’ inventory.
- NOTE: Sorter required to complete 8-10 ‘defective’ pallets per shift.
- Keep the area safe, clean and organized.
- End of Shift empty all scrap bins, sweep surrounding floor, wipe down equipment and turn off conveyor belts.
Qualifications:
In addition to the specific responsibilities listed above, the ideal candidate will possess the following:
Minimum Requirements
- Forklift Certified (at least one sorter operator certified)
- All sorters must pass the color test
Competency
- Employee must be able to read and write
Physical Requirements
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, climb, use hands, reach with hands and arms, and may be required to balance, stoop, kneel, and crouch.
- Employee may lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision and ability to adjust focus.
Working Conditions
- Employee required to work 8-hour shift (7:00am-3:30pm) 5-days a week.
- Works in a manufacturing environment with exposure to a wide range of temperatures.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be exposed to moving mechanical parts and vehicular traffic.
- The noise level is frequently loud.
