Overview

Location:

State-of-the-art, high speed manufacturing facility located in Bowling Green, KY manufactures specialty beverage cans for some of the top consumer product companies.

Position Overview:

This position ensures printer equipment is setup properly and operating efficiently within this high-speed state-of-the-art metal packaging manufacturing facility. Responsibilities include verifying proper setup of printer equipment, inspecting printers for quality defects in the manufacturing process, performing label design changeover setups, preventative maintenance assignments as well as auditing printer applications to ensure SOP specifications are met.  In addition, responsible for analyzing spoilage, recording causes and taking corrective actions where applicable.

Duties And Responsibilities:

  • Complete S.A.F.E. observations (1) monthly
  • Maintain constant safety awareness on shift
  • Verify safety functions are operating correctly
  • Understand the Housekeeping Requirements for the area and how they relate to safety.
  • Understand all Manufacturing and Quality processes
  • Understand ESE requirements of all said Equipment
  • Complete all quality, process checks and answer AC/CAs related to assigned equipment
  • Maintain equipment at rated speed producing cans within quality specifications
  • Maintain awareness of line issues and correct problems to maintain expected production targets within the decorator department
  • Maintain housekeeping requirements for Decorator area, including machine cleanliness following machine / inker schedule provided
  • Complete label changes and setup as needed
  • Work closely with deco Lead and PMR on line issues, conversions, etc.
  • Review and react to key indicators (print quality, printers trips, camera spoilage, Varnish application) for assigned machine
  • Conduct label change precheck verification for ink numbers, date codes, job number and varnish
  • Maintain all aspects of the camera to ensure proper operation and setup
  • Maintain material log in QAS
  • Report any gauge issues to Quality Department
  • Complete detailed shift handover at beginning and end of each shift
  • Inspect equipment is in proper condition and report any issue to maintenance department
  • Provide training for equipment operation for new hires
  • Perform job assignments through Emaint system
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

Requirements for this position would include but not be limited to the following:

Minimum Requirements

  • 2+ years experience in a manufacturing
  • Possess good fault finding and problem solving skills, along with attention to detail
  • Effective and proven communication skills working in a team environment
  • Strong proven working experience in preventative maintenance, troubleshooting skills and equipment re-build expertise are required for these roles
  • Experience in using controls and settings on high-speed automated equipment
  • High competency in the use of micrometers, calipers and related equipment
  • Strong math and computer skills
  • Must have own set of basic tools
  • Ability to work twelve (12) hour shifts, both day and evening
  • Ability to work overtime as needed

Preferred Requirements

  • An Associates/technical degree is preferred or a related vocational/technical certification (state electrical license, journeyman license,etc.).
  • Working experience in a high-speed manufacturing environment is preferred.

Physical Requirements

  • While performing the duties of this job, the associate is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, use hands, reach with hands and arms, and may be required to balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, climb steps/ladders and/or crawl 
  • The associate may lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision and ability to adjust focus

Working Conditions

  • Generally works in a plant environment but will be required to perform some job duties inside a typical office setting
  • While performing the duties of this job, the associate may be exposed to moving mechanical parts and vehicular traffic 
  • The associate may be exposed to a wide range of temperatures
  • May require working with hazardous chemicals
  • The noise level is frequently loud
