Overview

Position overview:
The Palletizer/Bander Operator will perform a variety of equipment operations and visual quality checks, in the production and manufacture of 3-piece aerosol cans of the highest quality at the lowest possible costs.
Location:
This fast paced manufacturing facility making over 13 million cans a month is located in Spartanburg, SC.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Responsibilities would include, but not be limited to the following:
- Operate one or more automated machines or equipment for the production and packaging of steel cans.
- Perform accurate and continuous visual quality checks of finished goods.
- Remove damaged and/or suspect finished goods from palletizer and report same to Production and Quality Supervisors, and Production Line Mechanics.
- Report operational status of equipment and production issues to Production Managers/Supervisors.
- Free jams on the conveyor and incline/decline.
- Accurately enter information into a computer to generate labels for the pallets. Verify and place proper pallet tags on finished goods.
- Utilize proper packaging materials (chipboard, top frames and pallets) as required. Visually examine pallets, top frames and remove if defective.
- Follow company standard operating procedures.
- Understand and follow verbal instructions to completion of assigned tasks.
- Maintain proper housekeeping and safety - keep work area clean.
- Complete any paperwork as required.
- Perform other duties as requested by supervisor or designee.
Qualifications:
In addition to the specific responsibilities listed above, the ideal candidate will possess the following:
Minimum Requirements:
- 2-3 years of production experience as well as a knowledge of production equipment and mechanical operations in a manufacturing environment.
- Basic data entry skills.
- Ability to read, comprehend and legibly complete associated paperwork and documentation.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills and ability to give and receive instructions to address palletizer, bander and/or quality issues.
- Safety & Quality minded with willingness for excellence required in all aspects of the job.
- Proven ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Must be able to work any shift, 12-hour shifts, evenings, weekends, and overtime as business needs dictate.
Preferred Requirements:
- High School Education/GED
- Prior work experience in a manufacturing setting is preferred.
- Knowledge and work history of focusing on safety and quality in every aspect of the job.
- Proven ability to effectively manage multiple projects/tasks at the same time.
Competencies:
- Manual dexterity/fine motor skills.
- Basic mathematical skills.
- Basic computer and data entry skills.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work independently or as a team.
Physical Requirements:
- Must have the ability to lift fifty (50) pounds on occasion and regularly stand, reach, stoop, kneel, climb stairs, crouch, or crawl.
- Ability to differentiate color.
- Specific vision abilities required by this position includes close vision, peripheral vision, and ability to adjust focus.
Working Conditions:
- While performing the duties of this job, the associate is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts.
- The associate may be exposed to a wide range of temperatures.
- The noise level is not excessively loud.
